updates

You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out :)

LOVE park

The earth that is the space between, I'd banish it from under me...

I started my new job this week...two days of orientation down so far.  I can honestly say that those were two of the least fun days I've ever had in my life.  i just had to keep repeating to myself "you are getting paid to be here, you are getting paid to be here."  I start on the floor tomorrow (for a day, then back to orientation) and I am very nervous.  Nothing like the fear or screwing up and killing someone to put you a little on edge.  Everything in my life right now is stressing me out.  I have off this weekend, but that doesn't make me feel any better because next week is going to be the week from hell.  I have to work 64 hours in one week, switching from day to night shift.  Ugh.

Stress, thoughts, and other stuff

So I did take the job, like I said in the previous post.  But I am completely stressed out even thinking about it.  I should be happy to have a job and be moving forward, but I'm not completely.  It's not the ideal situation.

I can't forget to call my mom today.  It's her birthday.  I'm not going down there because I have been to the shore like 4 times in the past month and I can't take the drive again.

I need to go grocery shopping in a bad way.  There are so many take out containers in my fridge that it's ridiculous.

stuff

Haven't posted in a really long time, but everything has been so busy and stressful lately that I haven't had the time or energy to do so.  I had my board exam and interviews for a position in Dover.  I've driven down to the eastern shore of Maryland so many times lately that I never want to drive again!  I'm heading down to Ocean City/Seacrets tomorrow but thank the gods that I don't have to drive.

Rollin'

My friend Jess and I are going to an interest meeting for a roller derby league tomorrow night.  This may be the strangest thing I've ever done.  But I think it's going to be fun!

Some stuff

I got my ATT and scheduled my board exam.  It's two weeks from tomorrow and I'm so nervous that I could throw up.  I have to drive down to Dover to take it, but then I'm heading down to OCMD (well Ocean Pines actually) to see my parents for the first time since May.  I want the exam to be over but I'm scared to see the results.  I can't wait to relax a little though and not worry about the exam, although I'll then get to worry about the results and a job, but one thing at a time I suppose.

I'm throwing a surprise bridal shower for my best friend who lives in MD on the 27th, which is only a little over two weeks away and it's really not coming together.  Her mom is supposed to email the invitations and she hasn't yet, although I suppose invitations are really just a formality at this point because most of the people who are going to be invited already know about it.  I hope it works out.

I feel like lots of stuff is going on in my head right now but if I pay attention to it all, I'll go bananas.  I am selectively deciding what to think about and trying to ignore the rest!

Some stuff

I am still bored and stressed out (is it possible to be both at the same time?).  I am still waiting to schedule my board exams but I can't yet, so I'm just sitting around waiting.  I have so many other things that I want to schedule and look forward to but I can't yet.  I can't believe it's July and the summer will be halfway over soon.

More stuff under the cut.....

Fried squid

I was thinking about a really good restaurant in Philadelphia the other day, called Tangerine.  It fights to be my favorite restaurant, but there are other top contenders as well.  I haven't been there in a very long time and I miss it.  I really hope Beth Diehl wants to go in August because it looks like that will be my next chance.  I drool for their calamari in red pepper aioli with arugula salad.  I'd tell everyone who goes to Philly to try it, but it is pricey.  It's on 2nd and Market.

Another fabulous one is Pietro's on Walnut St.  Their pizza is to die for...crispy, brick oven toasted crust, homemade sauce and fresh mozzarella and basil.  I'd drive into Philly just for a slice.  The only thing about this restuarant is that when it's busy it's super loud because it's a long narrow room and the sound just bounces off the walls.  But the pizza more than makes up for it.

The Italian Bistro on Broad St is very good too, but it's actually a chain, there are a couple in New Jersey.  That seems to take away from it's charm slightly, but the food is still very good.  And they are very accomodating to people who have tickets to the theater, which is nice.  They ask you at the start of the meal if you have to make a showtime.

When did this post turn into a restaurant review?

I shamefully admit that I love The Melting Pot.  It's melty, cheesy goodness and you can't beat it.  I'd order three cheese courses if I could.  Jim took me for my birthday last year and he hated it (no big surprise there) and I actually ended up eating almost all of it myself...Jim went to McDonalds afterward and got a big mac, hahaha.  I think he should have enjoyed it more because what other restaurant lets you spear raw meat and cook it yourself in boiling broth (very manly), but oh well.  I think it's fun, sort of a novelty, and it's wonderful because you're there for hours enjoying all cheesy, dippy, chocolately wonderousness.

There's the most wonderful Japanese restaurant somewhere in Center City Philly that I can't remember the name of.  I went there on a date once, and he drove, so I have no idea where it is either.  Argh, it drives me nuts because the sushi was beyond fabulous and I can never find it again.

There are tons more great restaurants in Philly that I like, but this isn't a food blog, so I'll shut up now.

Cherry fizz

Jim and I went cherry picking the other day, which was actually a lot of fun.  There are quite a few cherry orchards around us, which is surprising.

We may have gotten a little carried away.

Fun in the (slightly overcast) sun

I went to the beach recently and had such a good time!  Ok, so I went last Friday and I'm (counting on fingers) a week late in posting this, but it has been a busy week.  I went to LBI with Jess and the beach was practically empty, which was sooo nice.  The people next to us got up at one point and disappeared (took a walk? abducted by aliens?  they were gone a long time) at which point this brazen seagull decided to help himself to their stuff.  First he pulled out a bag of chips, then he went after their bottled water.  I took pics because it was kinda funny, but I'm having major problems posting them on here...so until I figure out why, I guess no more pics in any posts :(  Jess got up and threw away the chip bag and the bag that their water was in got really shredded, I wonder what they thought when they got back to their towels.  Anyways, I'm off to see SATC today, then going to Wegmans.

Sushi

My first attempt at making sushi.  It went ok...I didn't have the right rice, but it still tasted good.  I made a (sort of) Philly maki roll with cream cheese, cucumber, and avacado.

I really need to get some wasabi...it just wasn't the same without it.

101 in 1001

I joined [info]mission101 and made my post there, so I figured I'd repost it here too.  My list is very disorganized and I'll put it in some sort of order later.  The goal is 101 tasks in 1001 days.

Whole knows if I'll ever make it through the whole list, but here's to trying!

Concentrated fun in a yellow tube

Bananas are good eats.

Lights looks like Ashlee Simpson (or however you spell her dumb name). But her lyrics rock.

Are there oceans full of things you'll never say

Are there skylines of the cities you don't see

Is there music muted playing underneath

Is mathematics keeping you from thinking free

Do you see lights turn your shadows white

Don't let rain clouds cry at all of your parades

Let the other side of darkness kiss your face

Into the sea, into the sea.

Do you see lights turn your shadows white

Do you feel bright, turn your shadows white.

All the things I'll never say
all the shadows in the way.

Don't think too hard, if you think it hurts that bad

Don't talk about it, don't let it get you down

It's only one part, of the story
Just let it go, don't let this get you down now.

Sing the last thing on your mind

The last word on your breath

I'll be the one to keep you, keep you at your best

The last thing on your mind

'Cause I don't need your mess

I'll be the one to keep you one disaster less

Straighten up your tie, take the microphone

Forget about it, don't let it get you down

Now is not the time, and you're not alone

Shut up about it, no one can bring you down now

And I swear the banana thing is related to Lights :)

Ants in the Pants

I've been really antsy lately and it's driving me nuts. I don't really have a schedule right now because I'm between graduation and working. I have to take my board exams in a month or so, but I have to go to a review course and study in between then. So right now I'm just piddling around, not really doing much of anything, trying to get all my applications for liscensure and everything done, cleaning, organizing. My insomnia has been worse than ever (as evidenced by the fact that it's 1:00am right now) and for the past few days I haven't been able to get to sleep before 6 or 7am and then I sleep until 11:00am or noon and get up. I don't know what it is because I always have trouble getting to sleep but it's been worse than ever lately. I think it's the stress of knowing that I have to find a job and that I've limited myself to hospitals in Delaware, then passing boards, and then amount of money that I'm borrowing and will have to pay back. I guess there's always something to be stressed out about.
